Conference Chair

Gérard Morel is a full Professor at the University of Lorraine, from 1975, and in the CRAN, the Research Center for Automatic Control of Nancy, which is a CNRS joint unit. He directed more than 30 PhDs and published more than 150 articles in Automation Engineering and Production System Engineering

He held scientific positions in various national and international research networks and at IFAC, as well as in journal editorial boards (EAAI & JIM) and in numerous program committees. He’s also been an expert evaluator for the European Commission, the French Research and Higher Education Evaluation Agency (AERES) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research (MESR).

Gérard Morel contributed to the development of Research and Education around Systems Engineering, while being the vice-president of the French Association of Systems Engineering (AFIS), French chapter of the INCOSE (International Council on Systems Engineering). This led him to the creation of a master’s degree in ‘Complex Systems Engineering’

In recent years, he gradually left his administrative duties to focus entirely on his research and teaching works related to Complex Systems Engineering, to better take into account human and natural (or ecological) factors but also to train students and teachers to this discipline.
